Nintendo Releases Sonic Mania Trailer for the Switch

I know, I know… I’m a day late and a dollar short with this news, but c’est la vie, right?!  Nintendo has released the trailer for Sonic Mania and I’m super excited for this!  I love how this trailer was constructed; everything from the 8-bit music, to the messages that are displayed on the screen to the way the beat of the music syncs up with certain images.

The trailer doesn’t show us anything new that we haven’t seen before; we know about the new drop dash, the re-imagined Green Hills Zone and the boss for that level. Furthermore, we already know that the original trio of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are the only playable characters and that there are new levels such as the Studiopolis Zone.

They are most definitely going back to their 2-D side-scrolling roots that made Sonic a household name… unlike the mediocre attempt which we will refer to as Sonic 4.  Also of note, is that SEGA has Christian Whitehead on the payroll leading the project, along with Headcannon and PagodaWest Games.  Whitehead is notable for his remastered ports of Sonic, Sonic 2 and Sonic CD which were rebuilt from the ground up with bonus characters, bosses and levels added to them.

Sonic Mania is due to come out in the spring and will be for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.  Personally, I’ll be playing it on the PS4. I am clocked in and early for this!  I am manning the locomotive of the hype train for this!  The Sonic franchise has been one of my faves since I was a child (more so the older games) and I am ecstatic for the fact that they are taking this game back to its 2-D side-scrolling platforming roots that made it such a fun and popular game!  What do you think?  Are you here for this game?  Are you a fan of the Sonic series?  Let me know down below!
